The Music Room at Whitehall, the Palm Beach residence built by Henry Flagler for his last bride, Mary Lily Kenan -- who ELSE could give so much as a WEDDING PRESENT to his bride.
What is ALSO significant about MUSIC is that Henry Flagler ALWAYS gave ANY church/temple, etc. -- or philosophical organization -- a FREE PIECE OF LAND -- anywhere he developed. And he ALWAYS also offered them either a free piano or organ (their choice).
He KNEW that no matter HOW INSANE their "philosophy" (with or without those quotation marks), MUSIC always SOOTHES THE SAVAGE BEAST.
As many of you already KNOW, Mary Lily Kenan was KNOWN additionally as the "Carolina Songbird" -- educated at PEACE Institute (now College or U.), in Raleigh, so THAT was a lot of her ALLURE!!!
And when I met Curtis "Robbie" Anderson (a local band and music teacher at Burgaw, NC High School where my father was born -- the town, that is), in Wilmington in 1985 and we had a FULL-FEATURED ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIP for some on-and-off months (me living then in Sandy Springs, GA near Atlanta) -- and ALL THIS HAPPENING while we made love in the Kenan-built CAROLINA APARTMENTS (Kenan Fountain in Kenan Plaza splish-splashin' in the spring or spring-like rains -- but several floors below-- and across the street from what I've come to know as SUPER-COOL First Baptist Church!!!), had the sign covered with another saying DEEP RIVER APARTMENTS as the building was used in the filming of
And I MIGHT ADD that my Wilmington friend Steve Fox is TRYING to remake it as a MUSICAL!!!
Well, my point was only meant to be this: Robbie did not tell me until day three or four of being together on a couple of my visits, that he had LAST DATED my distant cousin Thomas S. Kenan III. (He did NOT dish him!!!) But he DID say that when he and Tommy went to a lot of "Fancy Funk-shuns" that MANY people came up to Tom asking for gifts of pianos or organs for their organizations -- and that TOM KENAN always was HAPPY TO HELP!!!
So it is NO surprise that I MOST LOVE the PET SHOP BOYS, followed by the somewhat irregular Elton John, and Grace Jones will ALWAYS be my Queen!!! (Tina Turner comes in next.)

Although the Wikipedia article MISSES that Flagler's FIRST father-in-law, Dan Harkness, by many accounts -- but not ALL -- was equal partner originally in Standard Oil -- with John D. Rockefeller being the third, Flagler later getting MUCH of Dan's portion -- but the Harknesses became SUPER RICH as well.
You NEVER hear of them.
And there are a couple of other minor errors as well, I DO list it first -- if anyone cares to look into THINGS "WEIRD-KENAN" !!!
