Vintage Navy enlistment poster. The US NAVY (and probably every other country's navies as well), has ALWAYS been the "gayest" of the services (THINK: all those boys confined in ships for months on end . . .), has ALWAYS solicited gay men, although in "coded" graphics like the above.

Perhaps odd that this is advertised in "events" for Naval Station Newport, but I just now realized that maybe that is Newport, RI, rather than in Virginia . . .
