Having contacted all the following Senators and Members of the House INDIVIDUALLY via SECURED SERVER FORMS back in late July, I FINALLY GOT my first response -- from Senator Rand Paul of my FORMER state of Kentucky, who sent a form letter telling me how he too is concerned about Federal Government overreach, but it relates NOT AT ALL to what I sent him.
Those I contacted (which took a LOT OF TIME since I had to fill out all individual secure forms on their sites -- EACH ONE sending a CONFIRMATION OF RECEIPT:

And I sent the same message, virtually, to every member of the United States House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, and got confirmations for EACH OF THEM as well.
ONLY one response , two and a half months later -- from Sen. Rand Paul, who earlier (and two Dems and one other Republican as well -- all Senators) put me on their SPIN-MAIL Lists -- LOL!!!

Of course we are not JOHNSONS, but the "Royal" Kenans got the royalty when Thomas, who emigrated to North Carolina in the 1770s, as did his brothers Felix and William -- the one whom I'm descended from, married Elizabeth Johnston, sister of Gabriel Johnston, who became the longest serving Governor (he a Royal Governor) in North Carolina's history, and they had a passel of youngun's.

1. Today, I found another source that Gen. James Kenan led the FIRST armed resistance to the crown over the STAMP ACT at Wilmington, thus BEATING the Boston Tea Party by about eight years. The Yankees won the WAR, and we all know how THEY ARE, they also claim Boston had the first orphanage, when IN FACT it was Charleston.

2. I imagine it did not hurt that this brother was so connected to the Royal Governor of North Carolina, and in almost NO TIME AT ALL, these Kenans were the largest suppliers IN THE WORLD of naval stores (pitch, turpentine, tar, etc.), to the shipping industry -- even before the American Revolution.
When the virgin pine forests were depleted, they went on to other enterprises, but you can THANK MY RELATIVES (the dead ones), for nearly NO virgin pine forests remaining in S.E. North Carolina!!!
3. The expansion of the Kenan Commercial Enterprises, fanning out of the Family across the OLD SOUTH, and getting into Positions of Influence can be found in this blog as well as many books or elsewhere online, so I will not belabor it now.
4. And to TELL YOU THE TRUTH, just today, I see in the 2000 edition of the Family Genealogy, that it turns out that it is only RUMOR that Thomas Kenan's wife was related to the Governor, so PERHAPS this was all just EARLY KENAN MARKETIN'!!!
Still, before 2000, the Kenans managed to get all manner of ROYAL CERTIFICATES, although they ADMIT no genealogist has ever been able to make the connection, one chatty old letter being the only mention surviving from the time.

5. So FORGET all that Royalty stuff, which doesn't actually matter anyway.
6. And NOW I need a nap, so I'll be mercifully short. The Kenans, especially in the last half Century, have had to INSULATE themselves from "normal people" for their own safety and to keep people and organizations from PESTERING THEM CONSTANTLY FOR MONEY, so it is NATURAL that they came to trust certain people -- like EPISCOPAL CLERGY -- and fell PREY TO THE DEVIL, so to speak.
Given the Kenans' LONG SERVICE TO HUMANITY, including education, especially, and other endeavors, and even though Gregg Loomis told me in 1990 that they are a bunch of JEW-HATERS and NEGRO-HATERS, that was Thomas S. Kenan III's father, Frank Hawkins Kenan and Uncle James G. Kenan, who were IN CHARGE THEN.
Having spent some time in 1990 with Frank's top deputy, Lee Shaffer who was President of Kenan Oil in Chapel Hill then (now CEO of Kenan Advantage Group in Ohio: www.theKAG.com ), I find it hard to believe that there was an evil bone in Frank's body -- given the downright AURA Mr. Shaffer had of KINDNESS.
But I must say that in googling unsuccessfully to find Lee's CURRENT photo -- and he was not only a 6' 8" ALL AMERICAN Basketball player, but Thomas S. Kenan III's roommate when they were both at Chapel Hill -- I could only find this OLD ONE:
