At Puerto Vallarta Writers Group, today, in response to someone asking how I was, I told the truth of how I feel.

1. It started last night (or before, actually), but enormously helped by my hearing from Tony Narducci, whom Tennessee Williams fell in love with and then fired me as his assistant -- Chicago 1982. Now, our conversation will remain private, but I think I can fairly tell you that he was saddened and perhaps stunned, that John Lahr didn't even mention either of us in his bio of Williams. He was hurt by it.
Now, so was I, but I have gotten so used to being hurt the last five years -- especially by family and previous friends -- that I "stuffed" that emotion, and carried on with life. And as I wrote Tony in an abbreviated message, over time, I had come to see that he was never part of the conspiracy to murder Tennessee Williams, and the fact that Lahr not only read but gave a REVIEW of my Williams memoir, means it SHOULD have been in his bibliography, because even though never quoted, some of what he reports in his book came from me.

I haven't yet heard back from Tony if Lahr ever actually contacted him. Lahr and I had a long email conversation -- and possibly a phone call or two -- back in 2008 or 09. But Tony's book was released 1.5 years ago, so Lahr has NO EXCUSE not to have read it -- in fact if he DIDN'T it would be very unprofessional of him.
2. And then -- and this was the MOST IMPORTANT THING I remembered and blogged about yesterday, is that Jack Stein, who likes that "three-day-old" heavy beard look, and I believe claims to be straight, unfortunately, really DID read back to me the odd phone number his Wilmington, NC City phone showed I was calling from was an ACTUAL NSA NUMBER, that googling, proved to be one the NSA uses to PASS PHONE CALLS THROUGH that it ALSO CONTROLS, rather than my REAL phone number showing -- which it often does in the USA, although sometimes it shows just zeros.
3. Then, at lunch, attended by a recent-record number of just over a dozen, The shaved-head Texan who recently joined our group, sat with his wife and another couple at my end of the table. THANK GOD he brought his wife, because I'd been seriously thinkin' of making a sexual pass at the guy -- HA!!! He's a damn good writer, but turns out his wife has FIVE GENERATIONS of Atlanta living under her belt, and I do NOT mess with Southern Women, PERIOD.
Besides, I liked her.
And perhaps funniest, is that NONE of that subgroup seemed capable of spelling "Kenan", despite my referencing Kenan Stadium at UNC, and spelling it out for them twice. This is my COMMON EXPERIENCE, so I do not mean to rag on them. I have no idea why people have an aversion to spelling my name correctly, and they still can't do it when they know there is no double E.
She also seemed to have no knowledge of how much the Kenan family forged Georgia history, the Kenan name all over things Episcopalian, educational, church organs, and the Atlanta History Center, probably now mostly endowed by the Kenan Family.
The Kenan Research Center is now completed.

4. Although I didn't research this until just this past week, learning I did NOT remember correctly and 68% of adult men had NOT admitted to at least one homosexual sexual encounter in their adult lives, it is TRUE that 58% percent of American adult men in the original Kinsey Report (before fundies got nuts over homos), admitted to getting an ERECTION over a man at least once in their adult life.
If YOU are an adult male in the USA and have NOT gotten a hard-on over a hot guy -- YOU are the FREAK, not ME!!!
I did not bring this up today, but the two excellent readings of original material, today, illustrated PERFECTLY all the worry, time, games played, and GENERAL BULL SHIT straight guys have to put up with just to get and stay laid -- with a woman.
Mr. Texas was clever enough to tell his story first from the male, and then female perspective -- rather brilliantly. Maybe that's why his wife came too -- and perhaps she helped him with it (although being a PRIVILEGED WHITE AMERICAN MALE, he didn't give her any credit for that).
And then always-late (a sure way to show your respect for ANY group is to ALWAYS be late for their meetings) Robin-the-Writer read a GREAT long piece, which really left him vulnerable -- one of the things I like best about his writing.
But in discussion of it all at lunch, two women near me pretty much said they had played those BS games themselves, for YEARS, before coming to the light and just STOPPING IT. And both of them remain heterosexual -- as far as they care to admit, at least.
But the simple fact is that TONS OF MEN who would rather be sexually with a man -- or could easily do that -- make a commitment to a woman in marriage so they can have their own biological children in a "traditional family unit". GOOD FOR THEM!!!
It's nobody's business but their own. The HONEST MEN find women who are genuinely loving and understanding, and accept the man's "wondering/wandering eye", but know that even if he gives into temptation, he will ALWAYS stand up for his family.
DISHONEST MEN carry on with women without disclosing any homo tendencies -- and those are the ones who not only play all the BULL SHIT GAMES, but are prone to alcohol or drug addictions -- and often violence as well.
We NEED to get over this "Christian Crap" -- or whatever YOU prefer to call it.
