Margaret is a strong leader, a role model, and a tireless champion for America’s students. She has been among my most trusted confidants for nearly 20 years, including as my chief domestic policy advisor at the White House and as our Nation’s eighth Secretary of Education. She has done a spectacular job here in Dallas as President of the George W. Bush Presidential Center, and our loss is the UNC System’s gain. Laura and I, along with everyone at the Bush Center, are deeply grateful for her energy, smarts, and good humor. We will miss her and we wish her the very best when she heads to Chapel Hill next March.”

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Equality NC’s executive director Chris Sgro issued the following statement in response to Margaret Spellings being named the new president of the UNC system:
“We are deeply troubled that Margaret Spellings has been selected as UNC system president. Public universities should be spaces where LGBT youth feel welcomed and accepted.
However, Ms. Spellings has been a vocal opponent of the gay and transgender community. Our schools’ administrators are responsible for creating safe environments for our students to learn without distractions. This starts at the top. Spellings does not have the needs of North Carolina’s LGBT students in her interests.
In order to help keep the Tar Heel State’s public universities safe, we encourage Margaret Spellings to take a hard look at what it means to be a gay or transgender student in the South.”

First of all, I decided NOT to leave a message on Thomas S. Kenan III's voice-mail, because I've contacted him in EVERY IMAGINABLE WAY, and he does not reply.
And I also went out last night to Harris Teeter to take advantage of their Friday discount on large subs -- to buy a roast beef one for two meals -- I'm a little tired of always cooking.
I ran SMACK DAB into District Court Judge Robin Wicks Robinson, who was waiting for her two subs to be made:
Robin is the Judge who welcomed me back to Wilmington -- and allowed me to give her a hug at the Democratic Unity Dinner, three weeks ago. And last night she was certainly friendly, but also a little aloof -- and I immediately realized why that is.
You see, she is the absolute EMBODIMENT of a sane, family woman -- but the "animal woman" (like the most basic "reptilian brain" that humans first evolved -- then built the better on top of it), is still part of her -- like the "animal man" which seeks to spread his seed all over creation is part of the most evolved man.
And that part of womanhood seeks security and safe environment for her family, meaning that rancorous discourse is DISCOURAGED.
HELLO!?!?! -- "rancorous discourse" all but DEFINES me!!!
And that is WHY she has such a good temperament for a Judge, no???
Judge Robinson DID say that it would be BETTER if I were more DIPLOMATIC (what I have honestly been trying to be).
Of course I thanked her for that, regardless -- I think dear Robin is a TOP EXAMPLE of FEMALE SANITY!!!
FUNNY was that as soon as Judge Robinson had left with her subs, a gentleman slightly older than me took her place at the counter, and HE knows LOTS of Kenans (and their history), but his PERSONAL KENAN FRIENDS are all CATHOLIC, and when he rattled off their names, they sounded like they were descended from Frank Hawkins Kenan's brother "Uncle Jimmy" (James Graham Kenan, who tried to help me legally in 1990), who married a Catholic "Clay from Kentucky", and had to raise his children Catholic (two of the five are now Catholic clergy of note).
And this guy and I saw EYE-TO-EYE on politics, he even saying my MAIN LINE: "Everybody just needs to GROW UP and TAKE RESPONSIBILITY for their lives!!!"
But then in an unexpected AMBUSH, he continued, "Those people don't FEAR GOD, properly," and I IMMEDIATELY replied, "God is LOVE, and if YOU think God is to be FEARED, then you are a DEVIL!!!" and turned and walked away.
This is the MAIN "Christian Blasphemy" that I simply CAN'T ABIDE.

And our calls are getting almost ECSTATIC as Mom and I find MORE COMMON GROUND. She got a kick out of my telling her about Peter -- and my relief that my "geriatric friends" of the Puerto Vallarta Writers Group must be OK.
Mom also loved my story about Judge Robinson. I told her also of the BAGPIPES piping over at St. Mary's this morning -- and what an important Community Center that church is.
But HERE is another story that broke yesterday, that makes me want to give "manly benefits" to every Sheriff and Deputy in TWO COUNTIES (but I won't without permission -- and NO ONE is allowed to be in uniform):
Go Sheriff John Ingram!!! Perhaps you are as COOL as Sheriff Ed McMahon here in New Hanover County!!!

1. Here is the second sentence from Dewain Hall (now in Sheriff Ingram's jail), verbatim: "I am not a good speller and I don't wright very good so bare with me."
Well, Testosteroni should get a MAJOR kick out of the idea of "baring" with the handsome young man!!! Testo couldn't respond fast ENOUGH about Dewain's sexual attractiveness, when I first posted his Mug Shot (which I will not post now -- not wanting to "stir too many people up").
The additional good news from Dewain, is that due to his working as a Trustee, his release day will be New Year's Day, and he would like a ride from me, then.
As ALL Catholics know (I don't think someone named Dewain could possibly be Catholic), that is the Feast of the Circumcision (now called the Feast of Mary -- although for a while it was the Feast of the Fulfillment of the -- Jewish -- Law, but Christians like to forget that Jesus remained a Jew ALWAYS).
So "Testosteroni", who included the FATTEST sausage I've ever seen in his care package that arrived yesterday, might be so HEPPED UP on Testosterone, Cialis, and Poppers, that he JETS DOWN TO WILMINGTON to examine the poor presumed-Protestant -- to see if DEWAIN needs to "get legal", no???
I would NOT be surprised!!!
I would be SHOCKED.
