I DID have a nice Mother's Day conversation with Mom early this afternoon, she LOVED the story about the Episcopal Church (with others), and their "A Bike for Every Child" program:
Mom couldn't have cared less about my long discussion with the woman related to Sarah Graham (Kenan) Kenan, but was INTRIGUED that my Step-Grandmother's, Annie (Childers) Kenan's house on Wrightsville Avenue was owned by The Good Shepherd Center (before it was a "center").
Annie, whom Dad NEVER called "Mama" -- like his sainted mother, who died when Dad was six -- and Annie was YOUNGER than my eldest Aunt, and she had a daughter with Grandpa Joseph Emerson Kenan, Sr. -- before they even BOTHERED GETTING MARRIED!!!
But then my first cousin Graham Harlee Kenan (of near Charlotte, NC), turned out to actually be my half brother, and Mom's brother Robert J. Meyer, DDS's youngest daughter Kristen actually had a different father. Uncle Bob TWICE told me he is ACTUALLY GAY:
Dad's oldest sister, Melba (Kenan) Herring bore three children -- including Dad's fave, Nell (Herring) Smith, whose husband's ASHES (Air Force Colonel Fred Smith), I sometimes slept under on a piece of cardboard in First Presbyterian's Columbarium in 2011!!!
Late in life, Aunt Melba lived with her LESBIAN LOVER -- LOL!!!
