Right before the BANK CRASH (almost, and some DID crash), in about 2007, BoA FOOLISHLY bought Countrywide, the mortgage company TOTALLY in over its head giving jumbo loans to people who could not afford them, and Countrywide TANKED more than any other mortgage company, leaving its owners in HUGE DEBT. That BoA CEO was quickly fired and Brian Moynihan put in his place. But the legal fallout over that and all the FINES and RESTITUTION that BoA was then responsible for, but had NOT made, they being from BEFORE, have plagued that bank since then, so stock prices have been depressed.
Buffett lent them the money to handle that trouble when it was the worst, and got stock options in return that he just cashed in, making not only a HUGE profit, but Buffett is now the biggest stockholder. That does NOT mean he owns more stock than the Kenans who own it in many persons, so none of them own as much as Buffett, but together, they might still own much more. I do NOT know what is true here.
Still, it will be a NEW DAY at BoA as Buffett is NOT a crazed Christian nor is he a Trump and Swastika/Klan-Supporter, like my Kenan Family -- at least that I know of.

Me and Mom on Memorial Day 2016 -- the LAST time I saw her in person.
After sufficient coffee -- and 1.5 hours of watching the news -- I called Mom this morning at 8:30 AM, having known that our LAST phone conversation of two days ago was SO STRONG that I needed to wait a couple of days after it to let things settle down.

Mom, recognizing my phone number, answered tentatively -- for the first time ever, she previously always sounding GLAD to hear from me no matter how ANGRY our words last were, and anger is SELDOM the last half year. I immediately offered my apology for having allowed my "PTSD" to take over so I had yelled at her, and that perhaps I should have smoked some marijuana first -- as all my doctors in the USA and Mexico have recommended for the STRESS of many things -- including the CRAP I've been dealt by my family.
"Oh don't do THAT!!!" Mom said, she STILL believing that pot leads to HARD DRUGS with few exceptions -- proven YEARS AGO not to be true. I let that go.
I told her that what I reacted to was NO ONE in our immediate family having any EMPATHY for the things I've been through the last seven plus years, the beatings, poisonings, false imprisonments and even false CONVICTIONS, false nut-house commitments that I immediately got out of.
"What do you MEAN," Mom responded, "I sent you money in Mexico and money to a doctor to help you there!!!"
