You see, I'm ALREADY losing stature on this blog THINKING ABOUT IT.
Anyway, not only is the Magnolia blossom a NATIVE symbol of Southern Hospitality, it was the flower piled HIGH on my grandmother's casket and grave in 1924 when Dad was six -- and then Grandpa Joe's cotton and tobacco warehouses burned down -- and soon enough it was the Great Depression as well.

I understand how my father got so compromised by America's TOP NAZI, a Dutch/German Catholic of the type that "fresses" rather than "esses" their food (think Babs Bush like 2/3 way down here: http://scottkenan.blogspot.mx/2012/03/feelin-frisky-on-super-tuesday-mornin.html .
I also understand why NOW, STILL -- and 89 (eighty-nine), YEARS LATER -- Dad gets SICK when he smells Magnolia.
That said, I rather LIKE it.
