1. Tonight, Erin Burnett ran a piece on a guy at UNC-Wilmington, who when faced with dealing with the white guys who BERATED HIM as a "Nigger", asked Chancellor Gary Miller to allow him to GET TO KNOW his attackers. The Chancellor responded "like a Kenan".

BUT according to the University's website, Stephanie is ACTUALLY Head of "Parents' Council" -- which I'm SURE is very nice, but QUITE DIFFERENT from Director of Development!!!
But then the STAR NEWS claimed Judge Sandra Ray Criner and DISGRACED (but SAVED by Wilmington Police who talked the young girl's FATHER into NOT prosecuting for Child Molestation), Sherman Lee Criner, were MEMBERS IN GOOD STANDING at First Baptist Church on Kenan Plaza. The crimes of THOSE TWO are SO SEVERE that the Pastor of 1st Baptist emailed me to MAKE CLEAR that they do NOT attend their church (and it sounded like they never DID).

While living in Wilmington, I heard rumors that First Baptist (where BOTH Mary Lily Kenan Flagler's, later Bingham, TWO SISTERS attended church after the Kenan Family ABANDONED Presbyterianism after the Wilmington Race Riot), had a lot of pictures of these Kenans -- but I never had a chance to find out.
Also, I'd like to say that over the last few months, I have received BACK-DOOR messages from several at First Baptist showing me support (despite my horrid Potty Mouth!!!).
I am TOTALLY COOL with First Baptist, Wilmington!!!
2. And with TONS of people who qualify, late in 2012, Caroline Kennedy gave one of TWO annual PROFILES IN COURAGE awards (named for President Kennedy's FAMOUS BOOK), to a teacher in Wilmington, NC who was FIGHTING the local HEATHENS who sought to FURTHER dumb-down Education.
So YES, I take BOTH these incidents as a sort of "POKE" of recognition as well -- and whether either of them did it intentionally or not.

As you can see by their dress and head-gear, BOTH GALS were "Kenan-y" (very "high-spirited") .
Jessie Kenan Wise DID eventually grow old. She was known (this picked up from some blogs written a few years ago by children of her personal friends who remember her well), to "wear an actual diamond tiara" to parties that she PUBLICLY ATTENDED, and being very nice and kind.
And one of the same bloggers described that Owen Kenan, MD (the guy who was Flagler's personal physician BEFORE getting decorated by France for Bravery and surviving as the "last survivor of the Lusitania", (CORRECTED: That had to be LATER -- I think . . . ), often came to Wilmington to visit his two surviving sisters. He liked to walk all around town using his cane made of precious woods and each of several was topped by a figurehead of GOLD!!!
Now, as one might IMAGINE, this a BIT MUCH for Wilmingtonians -- this SHAMELESS DISPLAY OF WEALTH, but THEY never made it to Newport, RI, where Mary Lily Kenan's BEST FRIEND who lived within a block of 110 Nun Street
Current "Google View" of the William Rand Kenan, SENIOR house at 110 Nun Street, Wilmington, NC appears to be taken after ANNA BERRY's DRUG MAFIA FRIENDS took it over while I lived in Wilmington. Google to find out THAT story -- LOL!!!

It was NOT just the "cane-dandyism" that drove Wilmingtonians to EXTREME JEALOUSY, Dr. Owen Kenan never MARRIED, so did NOT have the required-in-Wilmington STRAIGHT CRED (and he didn't CARE what they thought) --
IMAGINE!!!
William Rand Kenan, JUNIOR, too, had many difficulties with the swine-like Wilmingtonians. Although he married a "horsey woman" of GREAT SPIRITUAL BEARING, they had no issue, and he moved in with his life-long male secretary, Scotty, after his wife died.
Last item: Mary Lily's best girlhood friend from the SAME BLOCK in Wilmington, married Mr. Pembroke Jones, then the LARGEST rice merchant in the United States. Besides living in a rather palatial home in Wilmington, they had one of the largest mansions in Newport, RI. And it was THERE that in throwing the MOST EXTRAVAGANT PARTIES EVER for her friend Mary Lily Kenan Flagler -- then declared the "wealthiest woman on earth" by the NEW YORK TIMES.
Thus came the saying, "Keeping up with the Joneses."

Mr. & Mrs. Pembroke Jones ALWAYS travelled EVERYWHERE with Pembroke's male lover -- and the three of them attended all social functions together, as well.
