In many ways this is FAR WORSE a loss to Western Culture than the shock of the World Trade Towers falling when the Bush and Cheney Families with their Allies the Saudi Royal Family and Bin Laden Family brought that down to TERRORIZE the world.
During the second half of January 1973, I studied in Paris Cathedrals and Museums with a group of 15 Denison University students and Professor Steve Rosen. I remember vividly walking one foggy evening at dusk through the park-like area behind the Cathedral -- and being TRANSPORTED to a "Higher Plane" by a flautist playing "Greensleeves" in the distance.
I've climbed the front towers, seen the gargoyles from above -- and I sit here SICK TO MY STOMACH at the loss of so much HISTORY, ART, and ARCHITECTURE.
But I am not DEVASTATED over it.
As French commentators have told us on the News from both MSNBC and CNN, the French people -- France traditionally a VERY CATHOLIC COUNTRY -- had LEFT Roman Catholicism DECADES AGO -- and Western Europe has been MAJORITY Atheist since before the end of the Twentieth Century.
The Cathedral was such a MONUMENT to the SUPERSTITIOUS EXCESSES of Roman Catholicism, especially, and Christianity in general.
CNN had the current Bishop of Los Angeles reacting to the falling of the Spire, where the fire apparently began, housing several SACRED RELICS including a GENUINE THORN from Jesus's Crown of Thorns -- entirely LAUGHABLE, and PROOF of the IDIOCY of those who even today believe the Shroud of Turin is ACTUALLY Jesus's Death Shroud -- although carbon dating proved it was from the Middle Ages.
Who GIVES A SHIT what these "Holy Men" think when they can't keep Catholic Clergy from MOLESTING CHILDREN FOR JESUS!!!

He actually did the MOST of his conversion of Pagans in Brittany in France, and is known by several names -- and confusing things more, there were TWO OTHER St. Kenans soon after him!!!
